Team

We have many years of experience working as counsellors and psychotherapists. Between us we have helped many adults, parents, teenagers and children. We have worked in schools, organisations and private practice.

We are in a unique position of both understanding teenagers and knowing from listening to parents as well as our own experiences, that it can be really hard at times, parenting young people.

We share a passion for wanting to improve relationships between parents/guardians and their teenagers, in order to improve and support mental health. We want to share our knowledge gained from working with clients and our learning from experts in the field of psychotherapy, with as many parents/guardians as possible.

Laura Herman Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Laura is a professionally qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor with many years’ experience since qualifying in 2005 from the Westminster Pastoral Foundation. She is an accredited member of BACP and UKCP and adheres to their strict code of ethics.

She works with a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, parenting, bereavement and loss as well as relationship difficulties.

Her experience with people at every stage of the life cycle, including young people, adults, mature adults and families has drawn her to creating ‘Thinking Together’ with Robyn to bring this knowledge to a greater audience rather than exclusively in the therapy room.

She has run parenting teenagers courses and seen first-hand how arming parents with knowledge and skills helps to improve their relationships with their teenagers, benefiting both themselves and the wellbeing of their children.

In her own life and personal relationships, she is very much aware of how her thinking benefits others in an informal way and she wants to bring something of that to ‘Thinking Together’ and share with you in a creative, safe and purposeful way.

Robyn Saffer Adult/Child Counsellor and Child/Family Psychotherapist

Robyn is BACP Accredited. Robyn obtained a BA(Hons) at the Metanoia Institute which specialises in the professional training of counsellors and psychotherapists. Initially, Robyn worked at a Women’s Centre and in Private Practice as a counsellor working with adults of all ages. Learning different theories and techniques, has been invaluable to her both personally and professionally.

Robyn continued her studies and obtained a Master’s (Distinction) at the Tavistock and Portman Trust, which specialises in training professionals in the mental health of Children, Adolescents and Families. She has worked in a range of primary and secondary schools.

Working with children, young people and families has motivated Robyn to want to share her knowledge and training with parents/guardians to help them support their children.  As a parent herself, she finds her training can be very useful in managing the everyday challenges we all come across!
